“Demi Lovato Rocks Edgy Leather Jacket and Sheer Top in Sizzling ‘Still Alive’ Music Video”

On February 15th, Demi Lovato posed the question, “What’s your favorite horror movie?” to her fans. Nearly a month later, Demi released “Still Alive,” the debut single from the upcoming Scream VI soundtrack, along with a music video that could be considered an homage to the long-standing horror franchise. In the video, Demi takes on Ghostface while sporting a fashionable leather jacket and sheer top, showcasing her readiness to face the indiscriminate horror villain. The song has a retro-rock sound reminiscent of the 1990s, a time when horror films and Wes Craven’s Scream first emerged as a cultural phenomenon. With lyrics like “If anyone asks/I turn back time/Hunt the ghost that would haunt me at night/Face my past because I’m ready for battle,” Demi delivers the perfect horror movie anthem.

Demi Lovato is now part of a group of musicians who have created original songs for horror movies. This list includes prominent artists like Michael Jackson who created “Ben”, Alice Cooper with “He’s Back (The Man Behind the Mask)”, dokken with “Dream Warrior”, The Dickies with “Killer Clowns from Outer Space”, J. Geil’s Band with “Fright Night” and Echo and the Bunnymen with her cover of “People Are Strange” for The Lost Boy. Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds’ “Red Right Hand” is the most associated plot with the Scream Series, which features in Scream, Scream 2, Scream 3, and the upcoming Scream 5 in 2022.

Demi’s latest release, Still Alive, is her first new music since she ventured into the metal/rock genre with HOLY FVCK in 2022. The album was a commercial success, peaking at number 7 on the Billboard 200 and topping the Top Alternative Albums, Top Rock Albums and Top Rock & Alternative Albums charts. As of 2022, the album has a Metacritic score of 78, and COLLISION describes it as a “brilliant testament to Lovato’s hard rock prowess”. Demi’s vocals are stunning when paired with the heavy soundscapes, and while she can belt out a summer-ready banger, it’s just as exciting to see her explore darker themes.
